According to Ayurveda, yoga's sister science, we all are comprised of nature's five elements, but each of us has a unique combination called Vata, Pitta, or Kapha dosha. When our dosha is balanced within our natural tendency, we feel our best. However, sometimes internal and external factors can cause us to move out of balance, leaving us with negative feelings such as lethargy, irritability, brain fog and more. This 5-week Ayurvedic Yoga Course is designed to help you have more days of balance and harmony by using yoga and pranayama. With a few simple strategies we will better be able to recognize and reorient away from imbalanced tendencies, perhaps even preventing them altogether. In this course, you will learn: • The Ayurvedic clock, and how it relates to finding ease and balance for your daily, seasonal, and yearly shifts • Your personal dosha and what it means for navigating your life • How to remain balanced within your nature, recognize when you’re off, and what to do to restore harmony • Different ways of using pranayama and asana to gain the desired effect on your mind and body This course is for you if: • You have sleep issues- trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, and/or waking up refreshed • You have digestive issues- gas, bloating, indigestion, constipation, or overly loose stool • You have emotional distress- exhausted, irritable, foggy, wired, anxious or depressed • Your asana practice needs a refresh because it feels too hard or too easy Week 1 we will cover the basics of Ayurveda, including how to determine your dosha. Week 2 we focus on a Vata-reducing practice for when you’re feeling too ungrounded, spacy, or anxious. Week 3 we concentrate on a Pitta-reducing practice for when you’re feeling agitated, myopic or judgmental. Week 4 our emphasis is on a Kapha-reducing practice for when you’re feeling heavy, dull, or depressed. Week 5 includes a tri-doshic practice, so it will be a balanced practice appropriate for all three doshas. Practicing for all the doshas will allow us to fully integrate what we have learned. This class is via Zoom with the Replay available for 3 months after the end of the last class.
